Learning to be a Leftie
I’ve always heard that things like brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand (in my case, the left hand) are good brain exercises. So that’s one reason I’d like to try becoming ambidextrous. Plus, I’ve always thought lefties were cool—my hubby’s one, for example. So I’m giving this a shot by trying little things daily.
One I tried recently was using my left hand to write “Graffiti” in my PDA. Graffiti is designed to be a little more flexible in the shapes of letters than actual handwriting, so writing Graffiti is an easier exercise than trying to handwrite something legible. At the same time, you’re still getting the benefits of working on those fine motor skills. Plus the letters just show up temporarily on the screen, and if you mess up, you just delete it. No messy piece of paper to crumple up and hope no one ever finds! Of course, writing even a little bit was an extremely slow process. I’m sure I’ll get better and faster over time, though…
